GERMANY has narrowly escaped a recession, after its economy stalled in the last quarter of 2018.
Official figures published in Berlin show no change in the GDP of Europe’s biggest economy, after a contraction in the previous three months.
This weaker period for the economy, is being largely blamed on international developments, such as the slowdown in Chinese trade.
Germany is not alone in seeing slow growth, much of Europe has followed the same pattern over the last half-year. Italy, for example, ended 2018 in recession.
