A number of African migrants who were rescued from the sea off Malta last month have been relocated to France.

The migrants had arrived on the island on-board the Sea-Watch 3 and Albrecht Penck in January .

During their time in Malta, the migrants were assisted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Maltese authorities and officials from the French Embassy.

Back in January, Malta reached a deal with eight EU countries to divide up and take in 49 migrants that had been stranded at sea for weeks. The deal also decides the future of another 249 rescued migrants already in the island nation, the BBC reported.
