Police search for missing after Crete floods

Four people are missing on Crete after torrential rains caused flooding mainly in rural areas.

According to reports, a woman made a telephone call to the Fire Brigade that the car her husband was driving was being swept-away by waters of the overflowing Geropotamos river on the outskirts of Rethymno city on the northern part of the island.

According to ERT, seven Fire Brigade vehicles, with 40 fire-fighters and the police are leading the search effort.  An army helicopter and drone have also been deployed.
