Aviation: Single-engine plane crashes in tree in Netherlands, no casualties

A small single-engine plane crashed in a tree in Hilversum, some 30 km to the southeast of Amsterdam, on Monday, with the two people in the plane being rescued by the fire brigade.

The cause of the accident is still unknown. According to a statement by the fire brigade the tree prevented the plane from crashing on the ground.

The emergency services arrived at the scene immediately. After about one and a half hour, the two passengers were released from the aircraft.

The accident happened near the A27 highway in the center of the Netherlands. The plane was hanging in a tree at around 10 meters high and leaked fuel.
