The Contact Group on Ukraine hopes to agree on Easter truce in eastern Ukraine in the near future, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Special Representative Martin Sajdik said on Wednesday.
The contact group stressed the need to declare Easter truce and agreed to hold an additional video conference on April 18 for its final approval, Sajdik told journalists following the contact group’s meeting in Minsk.
The diplomat said the most important thing for an effective and long-term truce is the political will of the parties. “If there is a will, it is not difficult to do,” he added.
Sajdik said the subgroup on security also discussed additional measures to ensure safety and humanitarian demining.
The next meeting of the contact group will take place in Minsk on April 24.
