Namibian women footballers’ Olympic dream shattered by Botswana

The Botswana women’s football team thwarted Namibia’s hopes of participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when they held the hosts to a 2-2 draw in the second leg of the Olympic Qualifiers on Tuesday evening in Windhoek.

Namibia lost to Botswana on an aggregate score of 3-2 following their 1-0 loss in the first leg in Gaborone.

Namibia’s Spain-based Zenatha Coleman scored the two goals from free kicks for the hosts, while Botswana’s goals were scored by Nondi Mahlasela.

Botswana will face South Africa in the next round.
