Foreign nationals in Austria saw their unemployment rate increase by 1.7 percent year-over-year in April while the number for the whole country decreased 0.4 percent, the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS) stated on Thursday.
The national unemployment rate dropped to 7.4 percent, which means that 361,202 people are looking for jobs, according to the AMS.
The AMS said there were over 80,000 jobs open for these people, an increase of 13 percent over the same month in 2017, and a new record amount.
Unemployment fell in all job sectors and all states in the country, with Tyrol seeing the largest drop of 12.5 percent, whereas jobless numbers in Vienna decreased only 0.5 percent.
Unemployment for people aged 50 and over registered a 0.6-percent increase, while youth jobless rate fell by a significant 8.2 percent.
