Forty two people including 3 children drowned over the weekend in Ukraine, the country’s state emergency service said on Monday.
“This hot summer weekend turned out to be the last one for 42 Ukrainians, who drowned during June 22 and June 23. Three of them were children,” said a report released by the emergency service.
The officials said that 103 people have already drowned in Ukraine since the beginning of the month as heatwaves draw more people to water.
A total of 583 people including 63 children have drowned this year, according to the emergency service.
The highest number of deaths was recorded in the Kiev region. As of Monday, 63 people have died in the water since the beginning of the year.
