In The Bargee we follow the fortunes of bargee (Harry H. Corbett) who has a girl at every lock on the Grand Union Canal between London and Birmingham via Boxmoor.
One of the girls gets into the usual predicament, and her irascible father (Hugh Griffith) dries up the canal in an endeavour to locate the bargee culprit.
Corbett was just rising to national prominence in Steptoe and Son, when offered this role.
