Israel’s leading airline El Al announced on Wednesday that it will open the first direct flight route between Israel and Ireland in May 2020.
The new route will include three weekly flights between Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport near the coastal city of Tel Aviv and Ireland’s Dublin Airport.
So far, there have been no regular direct routes between Israel and Ireland, but only seasonal summer charter flights.
In addition, El Al will open a direct flight route to Germany’s Dusseldorf in June 2020 with three weekly flights.
Dusseldorf will join El Al’s three other German destinations including Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin, thus, expanding the company’s operations to 36 weekly flights to Germany.
El Al’s Vice President of Marketing Miki Strassburger said that “Dublin is an activity base for hi-tech companies, while Dusseldorf regularly hosts a huge range of international conferences and fairs.”
“The new routes will increase business ties and tourist arrivals to Israel, and strengthen political ties between Israel and the two countries,” Strassburger added.
