1973: Singer Jim Croce killed in plane crash

His songs like 'Time in a Bottle', and 'l'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song', became posthumous chart busters.

1973: American singer – songwriter Jim Croce, who had his first hit ‘Operator,’ was killed in Louisiana when his plane crashed after take-off from Natchitoches Regional Airport.

A few months prior to the crash, Croce was top of the U S charts with “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” and had a single in the UK called “Roller Derby Queen”—both of which were on his album.

His songs like ‘Time in a Bottle’, and ‘l’ll Have to Say I Love You in a Song’, became posthumous chart busters.

His subtle songs, his easy-going singing and his pleasant manner all served to undersell one of the most rewarding talents on the music scene.
