One police officer dead, five wounded in knife attack in Paris police headquarters: media

A man armed with a knife, on Thursday, stabbed to death at least one police officer and wounded five other servicemen in a police headquarters in Paris, before being shot dead, news channel BFMTV reported.

At around 13:00 local time (1100 GMT), a man attacked with a ceramic knife security officers at police prefecture in center Paris, leaving one dead and five wounded, according to the report.

The attacker, whose motive and identity remained unknown, was shot dead by a policeman shortly after the assault, it added.

The police headquarters was evacuated and a perimeter of security was put in place.
