Tokyo stocks open mixed amid investor jitters ahead of Fed meeting outcome

Tokyo stocks opened mixed Wednesday amid market jitters ahead of the outcome of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s policy-setting meeting later in the day.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 64.33 points, or 0.28 percent, from Tuesday to 22,909.80.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 0.35 points, or 0.02 percent, at 1,663.03.
