Busy year for police in Morocco

Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis cultivation during the past decade, Morocco remains one of the world's largest producers of the narcotic plant.

Moroccan police have revealed that security services seized a total of 179,657 kg of cannabis in 2019.

Statistics show police also seized 542 kg of cocaine and over 1.4 million hallucinogenic tablets, including 974,983 ecstasy tablets imported from Europe.

The number of individuals arrested in drug-related cases, reached 127,049, an increase of 38 percent year-on-year.
