Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed preparations for an upcoming meeting of their presidents over the phone on Sunday.
In a brief statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry did not unveil the date and venue of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Lavrov stressed the importance of resolving the issue regarding journalists of Russia’s news service provider Sputnik in Ankara and ensuring their safety, the statement said.
On Saturday, three local workers with Sputnik’s Turkish office were threatened and attacked in the Turkish capital, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday, adding that the workers were asked to stop their professional activities.
The journalists were held by police for hours before being freed on Sunday.
