EU grants 15 mln euros to WHO for support of Lebanon’s heath sector

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Lebanon Ralph Tarraf said Tuesday that EU granted the World Health Organization 15 million euros (16.2 million U.S. dollars) in support for Lebanon’s health sector, the National News Agency reported.

“The EU aims at securing basic medicines for patients in the coming two years, which will enable 95,000 vulnerable people to have access to medicines used to treat chronic diseases for free,” Tarraf said.

Tarraf added that this grant will also allow 350,000 patients who visit primary healthcare centers to benefit from drugs for acute diseases.

“The EU remains the biggest supporter of the healthcare system in Lebanon,” Tarraf said.
