Greece reports 21 new COVID-19 infections, one more death in past 24 hours

Greek authorities said on Friday that 21 new COVID-19 infections and one more death were registered since Thursday.

The total number of confirmed cases nationwide now is at 2,873 since Feb. 26 when the first case was diagnosed, and the death toll stands at 169, according to an e-mailed press release by the Health ministry.

Currently, 19 patients were hospitalized in intensive care units, while 98 have been discharged from ICUs.

So far Greek authorities have conducted 147,958 diagnostic tests, according to the announcement.

The country was in full lockdown from March 23 as part of measures to control the virus’ spread. Since May 4, the government has started gradually easing restrictive measures.
