At least four employees of a gold processing plant in Tanzania’s northwestern region of Shinyanga were slashed to death at dawn on Tuesday by a group of unknown assailants, said police.
Joseph Paul, the Shinyanga regional police commander, said a group of assailants ambushed the gold processing plant located at Ntambalale village at 3 a.m. and slashed the four employees to death using machetes.
“We have launched a manhunt for the assailants,” said Paul.
Joseph Mayalla, a councilor for Segese ward in the region, said he received reports of the grisly killings at 4 a.m. and when he visited the gold processing plant he found the bodies dumped in a room.
He said there had been a tidal wave of attacks on gold processing plants in the region
