The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria topped 5,154 after a sharp rise in the last 24 hours, official figures showed on Thursday.
The country confirmed 165 new COVID-19 cases, the second highest daily increase since Bulgaria reported its first COVID-19 case on March 8, the health ministry said.
Meanwhile, the number of recoveries from COVID-19 rose by 46 to 2,722, and the death toll from COVID-19 went up from 230 to 232, the ministry said.
It added that 446 patients are currently hospitalized, with 32 in intensive care units, while the number of infected medical workers has reached 418.
As many as 1,600 COVID-19 cases were registered in the country’s capital city Sofia, data showed.
