Iran’s Persepolis facing points deduction amid unpaid wages

Iranian football team Persepolis is facing a possible deduction of six points from the 2019-20 league table after they failed to pay part of their former coach Branko Ivankovic’s wage, Tehran Times daily reported on Friday.

Persepolis won Iran’s league title last week with four matches to spare.

According to the report, Persepolis has to pay one million euros before next week, otherwise they will face the six-point deduction.

The Iranian giants will also have to pay a sum of 580,000 U.S. dollars to ex-coach Gabriel Calderon who parted company with the team in January.
