Another 3,105 new lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus were confirmed Tuesday in Britain in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 374,228,, the government figures showed.
A further 27 people who tested positive for COVID-19 had died as of Tuesday, bringing Britain’s total to 41,664.
Figures from the British Office for National Statistics revealed that there were 78 deaths involving coronavirus in England and Wales in the week to Sept. 4, 23 fewer than the 101 announced last week.
Together, these figures meant that so far 57,528 deaths have been registered in Britain where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate, including suspected cases.
The figures were revealed at a time when countries, such as Britain, China, Russia and the United States, are engaged in a race against time to develop a vaccine for the new coronavirus.
