Venezuela international midfielder Yeferson Soteldo is close to joining Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal from Brazilian giants Santos.
The 23-year-old is understood to be negotiating personal terms after Santos agreed to a seven million US-dollar transfer fee.
According to Santos head coach Cuca, Soteldo played his last game for the club in a 2-1 win at Coritiba in the Brazilian Serie A championship on Saturday.
“It’s not that I think he might have played his last game for us. It was his last game,” Cuca told reporters after the match in which Soteldo converted a first-half penalty.
“He’s a very important player for us but he’s doing what is best for him financially. We have to understand that.”
The deal was not yet completed according to another Santos officials. Soteldo is understood to be happy at the Brazilian club, with whom he has scored 16 goals in 86 appearances since arriving from Universidad de Chile in January 2019.
