Israel registers 402 new COVID-19 cases, 323,741 in total

The number of COVID-19 cases in Israel reached 323,741 on Sunday, with 402 new ones reported by the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the death toll from the virus reached 2,732 with 11 new fatalities, while the number of patients in serious condition increased from 295 to 304, out of 561 patients currently hospitalized.

The number of recoveries rose to 313,380 with 755 new ones, and the active cases stand at 7,629.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli Parliament’s Labor Committee approved a grant program to encourage those on unpaid leaves and preferring to receive unemployment benefits to return to work.

According to the plan, employees who are put on unpaid leaves for more than 75 days will receive four monthly grants of up to 5,000 new shekels (1,484 U.S. dollars) each if they return to work.
