New variant prompts major UK lockdown

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has appeared in a nationwide television address announcing a new lockdown across England because of the rising number of cases of the coronavirus. Scotland, one of the other 4 nations that make up the U. K, introduced similar measures.

“With most of the country already under extreme measures, it’s clear that we need to do more together to bring this new variant under control,” Johnson said.

“In England we must definitely go into a national lockdown which is tough enough to contain this variant. That means the government is once again instructing you to stay at home”.

Specifically, the British Prime Minister said that the National Health Service was under more pressure than it had been at any time during the pandemic and there is deep concern in government at the rising cases of corona virus in the last few days and weeks and the rising hospital admissions, largely down to the new variants of Covid-19 which was discovered recently and it seems to be spreading much faster.
