Jordan reports 8,789 new COVID-19 cases

Jordan on Sunday reported 8,789 new COVID-19 cases, increasing its caseload to 535,455.

The death toll from the virus climbed to 5,876 with the addition of 88 new fatalities, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The ratio of tests that have a positive result stood at nearly 18.89 percent, compared with 18.80 percent reported on Saturday.

A total of 46,517 virus tests were conducted on Sunday, bringing the cumulative number of virus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 5,477,803, according to the statement.

It said that 7,413 recoveries were registered on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries in the kingdom to 434,167.

The statement added that there are currently 95,412 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
