Iraqi Health Minister Hassan al-Tamimi arrived on Wednesday evening in Beirut’s airport on board of an aircraft loaded with medical aid for Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.
The donations include ventilators and necessary materials used to equip intensive care units at Lebanese hospitals for the fight against COVID-19.
“The medical aid sent by the Iraqi government to Lebanon aims at supporting the Lebanese ministry of health in its fight against the pandemic, and it includes respirators and other medical supplies,” al-Tamimi said upon his arrival to the airport.
He added that Lebanon and Iraq have joint health programs and agreements aimed at benefitting health sectors in the two countries from the expertise of Iraqi and Lebanese health experts in the fight against the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hassan thanked the Iraqi government for its generous donation while adding that this donation will help the ministry’s strategy in reducing the burdens on hospitals.
