Turkish, German leaders hold phone conversation over COVID-19

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a phone conversation over developments related to the outbreak of COVID-19, Turkey’s presidential office said at a written statement on Friday.

The two leaders discussed cooperation opportunities in the fight against the coronavirus and steps to be taken in the aftermath of the pandemic, the statement said.

Both leaders also addressed regional developments as well as bilateral issues, it added.

The death toll of the virus in Turkey climbed to 2,491, and the confirmed cases totaled 101,790 as of Thursday, according to the latest figures of the Health Ministry.
