Cyprus announces seven new coronavirus cases, total at 850

The Cypriot Ministry of Health said that seven new coronavirus cases were detected on Thursday, raising the total to 850 since the first case was reported on March 9.

No new deaths were announced, with death total standing at 15.

Health Ministry advisor, virologist Leondios Kostrikis said the number of new daily cases over the past 11 days are supportive of the decision to start partially easing movement restrictions on Monday, with a view lifting them entirely on May 21.

But he warned that the increased movement of people will demand more care to avoid spreading the coronavirus following the easing of restrictions and the reopening of retail shops.
