Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said here Wednesday that his country is working on accelerating the political solution in Syria and the return of displaced Syrians to their homeland the soonest possible, the National News Agency reported.
Cassis’ remarks came during his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at Baabda Palace.
Cassis emphasized Switzerland’s willingness to provide necessary assistance to Lebanon in social, economic and financial fields.
He also stressed his country’s interest to see a political solution to the governmental deadlock in Lebanon which would encourage the international community to provide support for the country.
Cassis’ visit to Lebanon aims at following up on projects funded by Switzerland in the country in addition to checking the situation of Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
