Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Ebrahim Raisi on Saturday for his victory in Iran’s presidential election.
“Stating my belief that cooperation between our two countries will strengthen during your presidency, I am ready to work with you,” Erdogan said in a letter, according to his office.
Erdogan added that he will be pleased to visit Iran for the upcoming High-Level Cooperation Council meeting once the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
The Turkish leader wished Raisi “success” in his new position, and expressed hope that “the spirit of cooperation between the two countries will continue to strengthen in all fields.”
Raisi won Iran’s presidential race by securing more than 60 percent of votes, the Iranian Interior Ministry announced Saturday.
