
Strong winds continue to fan a fire sweeping through the countryside in the Akamas peninsula on the western coast of Cyprus.
According to authorities, the blaze is nearing Neo Chorio and Prodromi.
As of Monday afternoon, eight fire engines backed up by fire-fighting aircraft were on the scene battling the flames.
Emergency services have battled several fast-moving fires in Cyprus this year.
In July, a 67-year-old man was arrested suspected of starting a fire in Arakapas which destroyed over 55 square kilometres and killed four farm workers.
The fire destroyed many homes and cars.
