WFP says to double assistance to Lebanon

Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) David Beasley said on Tuesday that WFP aims to double the assistance to Lebanon to reach 1.6 million people in the next few months, the National News Agency reported.

Beasley’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail to discuss the aid offered by the WFP to Lebanon.

The WFP will make sure to target the most vulnerable groups in the country, Beasley said.

“We will work closely with the government to identify the most vulnerable families and children,” he added, noting that the organization works independently and is keen to offer its aid to the weakest groups regardless of their political affiliations.
