Several explosions rock Ukraine’s capital, Kiev

A freight train catches fire while traveling on the Crimean Bridge on Oct. 8, 2022.

Several explosions occurred in the Shevchenkivskyi district in Ukraine’s capital on Monday morning, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko told The Telegram.

The explosions have resulted in casualties, according to the press service of the State Emergency Service in Kiev.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the explosion on the Crimean Bridge was no doubt a terrorist act aimed at destroying Russia’s critical civilian infrastructure.

“Ukraine’s special services were the initiators, performers and masterminds,” Putin said when meeting with Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin.

Confirming Putin’s statement, Bastrykin said that citizens of Russia and foreign countries were also involved in the incident.
