Lebanon condemns storming of Qatari embassy in Khartoum

Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday condemned “the storming and vandalism of the Qatari embassy in Khartoum,” calling for “respecting the immunity and inviolability of diplomatic headquarters following the rules of international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”

A statement released by the National News Agency quoted the ministry as saying “the importance of the commitment of all Sudanese parties to the declaration of the recent Arab summit in Jeddah in terms of resolving political differences by peaceful means.”

The attack on Qatar’s embassy in Sudan’s capital Khartoum on Saturday resulted in significant damage to the premises. All embassy staff had been evacuated beforehand, Qatar News Agency reported. ■
