Immigration authorities in Norway have put asylum applications from Syria on hold until further notice following the fall of the Assad regime, but it is making exceptions for unaccompanied children, reports NRK.
“What we have done is that we have made a decision that we will continue to process the cases of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers from Syria. We do this in the best interests of the child,” says Director of Protection at the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) Wenche Fone.
Meanwhile, Syrian ministers from the newly formed transitional government met with members of the ousted Bashar al-Assad’s administration on Tuesday to organize the transfer of state institutions and ensure the continuity of public services, according to the Syrian national TV.
