Syria’s incoming authorities will publish a list of former high-ranking officials who have been involved in torture, the country’s rebel leader warns.
“We will offer rewards to anyone who provides information about high-ranking military and security officers involved in war crimes,” writes HTS leader Ahmad al-Sharaa, formerly known as Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, on Telegram.
He began talks with the ousted government on Monday about a transfer of power, a day after his opposition alliance toppled President Bashar al-Assad after decades of brutal rule.
“We will not hesitate to hold accountable the criminals, murderers, security and military officers who have been involved in the torture of the Syrian people,” the rebel leader said.
