Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides held a phone call Monday with the Prime Minister of Israel, according to a written statement from Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou.
The conversation followed their recent bilateral meeting, the 10th Cyprus‑Greece‑Israel Trilateral Summit, and the Israeli prime minister’s subsequent visit to the United States, where he met with U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to the statement, the two leaders focused on implementing agreements reached during their recent contacts. Particular attention was given to the planned electricity interconnection, including the Israel‑Cyprus segment, within the broader India–Middle East Economic Corridor. They also discussed advancing cooperation on energy issues and strengthening defense ties.
The leaders reviewed progress on the U.S. President’s peace plan for Gaza as part of their regional discussions.
Both reaffirmed the strategic importance of Cyprus‑Israel relations and their commitment to maintaining close coordination and cooperation, building on momentum from recent decisions, the statement said.
