The European Parliament has approved €9.21 million in assistance for Cyprus from the EU Solidarity Fund following the devastating wildfires of July 2025.
The allocation is part of a wider €144.1 million support package for Cyprus, Spain and Romania after natural disasters struck the three countries that year.
According to the report submitted to lawmakers, Cyprus was hit by unprecedented wildfires in the Limassol and Paphos districts, driven by prolonged drought, extreme heat and strong winds. Direct damages are estimated at €252.68 million.
The fires affected thousands of residents, killed two people and destroyed nearly 900 private properties. They also disrupted education and healthcare services.
