Cyprus has introduced temporary measures to assist third‑country nationals who are unable to return to the Republic due to widespread flight disruptions caused by the escalating situation in the Middle East, the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection has confirmed.
The ministry said the validity of residence documents for affected individuals abroad will be extended, noting that the regional crisis — which began on March 1 — has created a “generalized state of force majeure” beyond the control of travelers.
Under the temporary measures, holders of valid residence permits will be allowed to re‑enter Cyprus with their existing documents until April 30, provided their three‑month absence from the Republic elapsed after Feb. 28. Similar provisions apply to individuals holding receipts for pending residence‑permit renewals, as long as their applications remain active or approved.
Entry permits originally valid for use between March 1 and March 31 may also be used until April 30, regardless of the expiry date of the original entry window, giving travelers at least an additional month to return.
The ministry said it will reassess the situation and extend the measures if necessary, depending on how conditions in the region evolve.
