Cyprus Transport and Public Works Minister Alexis Vafeadis said the access road used by arriving passengers at Larnaca Airport will remain closed until 2027 due to ongoing construction tied to the airport’s expansion.
According to a report in Haravgi newspaper, Vafeadis explained that although the original security concerns that led to the road’s closure have been resolved, the area is now part of an active construction site managed by Hermes Airports, preventing its reopening.
Speaking about recent changes at Paphos Airport, Vafeadis noted that concrete barriers there have been removed following the elimination of safety risks and traffic restrictions near the terminal. He expressed satisfaction that those issues have been resolved after two years.
He added that similar steps will be taken at Larnaca Airport once the construction site is no longer in use, and traffic flow will be restored as soon as conditions allow.
