Cyprus: Five Pafiakos Volleyball Players Injured in Nightclub Attack

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Five members of the Pafiakos volleyball team were injured after being attacked by nightclub patrons while celebrating their recent cup victory.

The players were taken to Paphos Hospital, where two were treated for fractures and three for injuries. All were discharged after receiving first aid.

The players reported being assaulted as they left the nightclub, but it remains unclear if a confrontation occurred earlier in the evening. Police have identified the perpetrators and are expected to make arrests soon, reports Cyprus radio.

Pafiakos is a volleyball team based in Paphos, Cyprus. The team competes in the Cypriot Volleyball League and has a strong presence in domestic competitions. Founded in 1979, Pafiakos has achieved notable success, including winning the Cyprus Cup and the Cyprus Division 1 championship multiple times.
