More than €2,000 has been raised for the Cyprus Autism Association and vulnerable communities this week following the Sovereign Base Areas Area Offices charity lunches.
Over 200 people attended, including representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, local government and community leaders and SBA Administrator, Peter Squires and Chief Officer, Clare Simpson.
Speaking during the event, Akrotiri Area Officer, Nicos Mylonas said: “We are honoured to see so many people attending and supporting our charity event.
“We underline our personal commitment to helping others by providing practical support to charity associations that do so much in return to help those in need.
Dhekelia Area Officer, George Kiteos, added that the money raised would “support vulnerable members of our society”.
Giorgos Ioulianos, Xylophagou community leader, thanked the SBA Area Offices for organising the events and Mayor of Kourion, Pantelis Georgiou, added that “events like these highlight the importance of the close relationship between all of those involved”.
