Authorities are conducting a sample audit of Turkish‑Cypriot property leases in Paphos, with 110 municipal contracts under examination and additional cases still being reviewed, according to media reports.
The Turkish‑Cypriot Property Management Service is assessing lease files both in Paphos and across Cyprus.
A separate Interior Ministry team has also collected files for inspection. Early findings indicate that most cases show no irregularities, aside from instances where tenants appear to have unilaterally changed the approved use of the property.
Findings so far
- Several cases involve properties granted for one purpose — such as green space — but later used differently, for example as parking areas.
- No evidence has emerged that any lease was granted for profit‑making purposes.
- These deviations in use remain under further review.
Ongoing investigations
Four to five additional cases are still being examined following formal complaints. Authorities say the majority of files reviewed to date appear to comply with legal procedures.
The broader investigation remains open as officials continue to assess leases and verify whether terms of use were respected.
