Candidate submissions for Cyprus’ May 24 parliamentary elections have been set for May 6, authorities said.
The date was agreed at a meeting between Interior Ministry Director General Elikkos Elia and representatives of political parties.
Officials estimate about 1,200 polling stations will operate on election day, staffed by roughly 5,300 public employees and 1,200 police officers. Final numbers will be confirmed after the supplementary electoral roll of April 2, 2026 is completed, merged with the permanent register and voters are assigned to specific polling stations.
The May 24 vote will also include local elections held under Cyprus’ new local government reform. Voters will choose mayors, local council members and officials for newly merged municipalities and local authorities on the same day as the parliamentary poll, as the government moves to streamline and centralize local administration.
