Veterinary Services on Monday reported foot‑and‑mouth disease in two additional livestock units, bringing the total number of infected farms to 54 across the Larnaca and Nicosia districts.
The new cases were found in two units in the Dromolaxia‑Meneou area, already within the designated infected zone. One unit recorded three to five goats and sheep with symptoms, while the second reported about 20 affected animals.
Sotiria Georgiadou, spokesperson for the Veterinary Services, said there is no risk to consumers regarding meat or milk ahead of Easter.
Vaccination efforts continue, with second‑dose coverage reaching 60% in cattle and 27% in goats and sheep.
