Cyprus police arrested seven people overnight during targeted operations across the island aimed at preventing serious crime and boosting public safety, authorities said Tuesday.
The arrests involved offenses including theft, drug possession, failure to appear in court, impersonation and outstanding fine warrants.
Police said 277 drivers and 90 passengers were stopped and checked, while 32 premises were inspected, resulting in nine citations for various violations.
Traffic patrols issued 159 citations, including 94 for speeding. Eight additional traffic‑related cases are under investigation, and four vehicles were seized.
Officers also carried out 36 alcohol tests, issuing two citations, and found six drivers positive for narcotics.
Police said the coordinated operations will continue daily with increased patrols, targeted checks and rapid response measures to enhance public safety.
