The World Summit AI Qatar 2024 began on Tuesday, marking the first event of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
Under the theme “Putting Humanity at the Heart of AI,” the two-day summit focuses on critical issues surrounding AI applications, mainly on four key areas: responsible governance, generative AI, accelerating AI adoption across sectors, and integrating AI technologies into daily life.
The event features four stages hosting 76 speakers, including three keynote presenters offering insights into the future of AI, as well as innovations from 25 startups.
QNA reported that the summit has attracted a large international audience, with 44 percent of the 3,000 tickets sold to attendees from abroad.
The opening ceremony saw the inauguration of “Fanar,” an Arab AI initiative aimed to elevate the Arabic language’s prominence in AI technologies on a global scale. ■
