A Greek Cypriot man was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison after he was found guilty of possessing Class A and B drugs with intent to supply at the SBA Court in Dhekelia on June 20.
The 47-year-old, who was in possession of 2.5grams of cocaine and 100grams of cannabis, was also guilty of wilfully destroying evidence – cannabis.
He was initially arrested in the Ayios Nikolaos area on October 14, 2024 following a large scale police operation targeting drugs and firearms.
The man was held in custody until he appeared before the SBA court, while the SBA Police continued investigating the case.
Dhekelia SBA Police Deputy Divisional Commander, Superintendent Dinos Petrou, said this sent out a strong message to those involved with this type of crime.
He explained: “The sentence demonstrates that we will bring those that are involved in drug dealing to justice and our efforts will not stop.
“The arrest proves the excellent work conducted by my team as they identified, detected and arrested the person charged, who is now behind bars.
“The safety of our communities is our priority”.
