Jordan Extends Residency Permits for Foreign Visitors to Three Months

Jordan has extended temporary residency permits for foreign visitors to three months, up from one month, in a move officials say is aimed at boosting tourism and attracting investment.

The new policy applies to all foreigners entering through the kingdom’s border crossings, except those holding work visas.

Travelers will now receive a three‑month residency stamp in their passports upon arrival, eliminating the need to visit local security centers to extend their stay.

The change is part of a broader effort to stimulate the economy. Longer permitted stays are expected to support medical tourism and give potential investors more time to explore business opportunities.

Jordan received about 6.1 million foreign tourists in 2024, and the Tourism Ministry expects stronger arrival numbers for 2025.
