Cyprus’ Health Ministry has hailed as a significant achievement the unanimous approval of its proposal to create a “European Center of Clinical Excellence” by the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels.
The proposal was submitted by Health Minister Neofytos Charalambides as part of the priorities of Cyprus’ presidency of the Council of the European Union.
It was presented in February at the Informal Council of EU Health Ministers and received full support from the committee.
According to the ministry, the planned center is expected to strengthen confidence in clinical assessments, support consistent and high‑quality decision‑making, and bolster the European Union’s role in international pharmaceutical policy.
It said the initiative would also lay the groundwork for a more coherent and patient‑focused European health‑care system.
